This is an old walk in cooler that has been converted into a lumber kiln. I bought this kiln a couple years back with the intent of drying lumber for my own use and to sell. Due to life happening, i.e. kids getting busier with school and sports, my buddy’s saw mill dying, a major neck surgery and who knows what else, I never got the boiler and AC unit plumbed in. It came with an old natural gas boiler too old to convert to fuel oil or LP. I finally found a replacement fuel oil boiler that I bought but never hooked up. The kiln has been taking up a quarter of my garage floor space since and I really want the space back, to set up a wood shop. It is set up and ready to run minus having the boiler plumbed in. This kiln was used to dry tens of thousands of board feet of lumber by the guy I bought it from. It will hold somewhere above the 5000 bf range. Interior dimensions are approximately 11 feet long, 9 feet wide, and 7 feet high. The wall panels are about 5 inches thick and each panel is fairly light weight. The previous owner would brag he could bring a load down to 8 percent moisture in two weeks. I found that drying it that fast caused case hardening with some of his lumber. I was planning on doubling the time frame to start out. It is fairly easy to take apart and transport as it is made of panels that separate. It comes with all control panels, temperature probes, two pallets of 1”x1”x4’ stickers, fuel oil boiler and several hundred gallons of fuel oil. I’m interested in selling it and am asking $4100/offer, or trading it for larger wood working tools such as a cabinet table saw, jointer, wide belt sander, etc. I’d also be open to trade for a four wheeler, snowmobile, tractor or boat. If you have any questions feel free to send me a message on here or send me a message and I’ll send you my phone number. If you may be interested in it, I can send as many pictures as you’d like. I’m located near Rochester, NY. Thank you. Eric

Just curious about that ‘Worker Inside” sign. Was that forethought or is there a story behind that?

Being that it used to be a cooler, that was a safety for whomever was inside so that they didn’t get locked in. New equipment has provisions so that happening isn’t possible.

Well, given I was a Marine, I tend to need things spelled out for me! On a serious note, Gilley 23 probably nailed it on the head.
