Topic tags/keywords: ipe brazilian walnut glue gorilla titebond waterlox penofin question

I have a bunch of 20’ t&g 5/4 ipe boards that i would like to turn into door jambs… I’ve been reading about various glues, but maybe somebody here knows what the latest and greatest glue is to use for ipe which gets the best results… i was thinking gorilla wood glue? but can i do better?

I was planning on finishing with waterlox oil based (i have a bunch left)... any suggestions?

Ipe is used in laminate flooring I believe, so I would contact one of the company that sells and installs IPE flooring.

Dave,

Gorilla glue will work fine as long as tour joints are tight. Give them a quick swipe with sandpaper just before glueing to get a clean surface. That’s just as effective as wiping with acetone, and safer. Don’t leave it toolong after milling the joints or you will have to use acetone.
