My new 1819 Shop Fox T/S came in this week and if she cuts half as good as she looks I’ll be a very happy camper. I purchased it from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, they said 4-6 weeks before it would be shipped. So I figured I had plenty of time to get my garage in order. Then this weekend I get an email saying it had been shipped and Monday I get a call from the trucking company to see if they could deliver it Tuesday. Lucky for me I have Tuesday and Wednesdays off. They delivered it right inside my garage just like they said. I took my time to unpack everything and started to put it together I’ll have to admit it went a lot smoother than I thought, probably because I wasn’t in a rush since I don’t have the 220 running to my garage yet. I set it on the heavy duty Jet mobile base with a piece of 3/4” plywood under it. I wiped down the table top with mineral spirits, sprayed some Top Coat on it then hit it with some Johnsons paste wax. The grease thats on the gears under the table, should that stay on or should I be taking that off too and replacing it with something different? I don’t have any digital measuring devices to check between the blade and the miter slots or the fence. All I had was a metal rule and it look pretty damn good to me is a digital device this something I need to buy? If there is anything else you think I should be doing or should have checked that I missed please feel free to chime in.

Hopefully I can get the power run this weekend and give it that initial nickel test. Once I get all settled I’ll post some photos of my shop. It will probably be awhile before I post a review I have to get a few projects under my belt first.

I think I am going to buy the same saw (free shipping on E bay).I think a dial indicator is good idea, and as for a fixture this can be made.It will give you a vary accurate measurement of weather your trunion is parallel to your miter slot.It can also check weather your fence is adjusted right and a few more things.Check out In-line industries.Youtube has some videos on setting up a table saw.A question for you why did you choose Shop Fox over Grizzly?Do you think there is a quality difference?

Have your say...
