Topic tags/keywords: plane veritas premium

Before I make the plunge for a nice LN no4 (with discretionary income from the wife) I got to thinking… If you look at the description in a Lee Valley catalogue of the new premium block planes it says that its the first in the line of new premium(or ultra premium) hand planes. My question is this; When on earth are we going to see these new fancy planes? Its been a while since those NX/DX low angle block planes have been out.

If they were to come out with a smoother this year I would wait and see if it is comparable in price to the LN and make my decision then. I read an interview at http://www.popularwoodworking.com/tools/veritas_premium_block_planes?print=1 with Robin Lee of Lee Valley and that really got me wondering.

oooh I wanted both of those LV PRemium block planes last Christmas, but just could not justify their cost relative to my other tool needs/wants.
I think it is a slippery slope if one starts down the plane collecting path:)
