So, I’m planning on building a new project that is going to involve more than a few mortises. It got me to thinking about the sheer number of ways you can cut a mortise.

Over at my blog, this week’s poll is all about how you cut mortises. Sure, I might be fishing for a new tool. So, by your vote, I’ll be able to influence my wife that considering a new tool purchase is a good idea!

Thanks for voting!

I voted but I really like the plasma rifle option.

Do you prefer the red or blue plasma beam?

Do you need the laser cannon before you get the plasma rifle? I’d like to know cause I’m on a budget.

You could just dump them both and go for a phaser. Those particle beams make a much better and
cleaner cut!

I didn’t know we could include our phasers here. But I generally leave mine on stun.

I have found that for pure “cutting” I prefer to use my homemade Lightsaber. I find that it does not burn or chipout.

And the only color I use is Blue.

Its actually green, but he’s color blind.

I’m old school… I like Flash Gordon Laser Gun….it makes a cool sound when it goes off and it sends sparks flying all over…ok maybe thats not such a good idea in a woodshop. I have had a hard time finding batteries for it lately.

I have resisted the temptation to add a good plasma phase rifle to my tool collection.

I read an article written by a very reputable technician that stated that during periods of idle use, you run significant risk of reactor core leakage.

The article stated that a great many instances had been recorded of hobby woodworkers came home from their regualr 9 to 5, only to find an uncontained nuclear reaction taking place in the drawer of their tool chest.

If you use the ppr on a daily basis your risk is lessoned. It is when you leave it set for a day or two that problems can occur.

I did not want to take the risk…but then again I am a chicken.
