I am looking for some small 1/4” overlay hinges for my beginning cabinet making class. I want them to build a functioning prototype cabinet that only has a door that is around 5” by 10” but all of the hinges I can find are too big. It is for a 1/2” thick face frame cabinet. We can just do an insert door because I have found hinges for that at Woodcraft but I think it would be much easier and look much better if we did an overlay. These are high school students I am dealing with.

Let me know if you have any ideas or links to somewhere I can purchase some.

Thanks,
Brad

Get a 1” wide piano hinge and cut them to length. Also check out the Lee Valley/Veritas catalog. A crafts store like Hobby Lobby has small dollhouse hinges that may be the right size.

Brad – I would look in the jewelry or cigar box hardware section for “small-ish” items like that.

Have you looked at the Blum Mini Hinge ?

I wouldn’t buy them from Rockler though, too much $$
Should be able to find them cheaper.
