Topic tags/keywords: trick question

Has anyone else noticed these new profiles that are advertisements for exercise equipment or other stuff by clicking the link. Does anyone know how to report this.

What Dennis Said. I run through the “Jocks”, “Most Recent” once and a while to Welcome New Members.

They don’t seem to be as prevalent as they once did but they ARE there. I usually leave them a “Greeting” like “Get Off Here FOOL!” or something similar to that.

I don’t bother with that any more for various reasons. Think I’ll just do as Dennis says, or nothing at all.

I’m wondering how they get on here in the First Place? I GUESS there is no Screening Process in place. Maybe it’s too Complex to do so???

EDIT: My error, I think. They ARE just as prevelant!. They use to give themselves away by an “Out Of Place” type of Avatar. I just now ran through the First Page only of New Members. It runs from 39 seconds ago to 1 Day. There are FIVE of them on there. They use the “Stock Avatar” for LJ’s.

If you go to their “Home Page” (Which is all you can do) there is NO FLAG that I can see. Other Members have commented there on it being “Not Woodworking” or ”??????” , so I guess the only choice you have is to ”Flag” one of their Comments. Which obviously doesn’t seem quite right.

You can have a look at this one as an example.

UNLESS? I’m missing something? Rick

but then I wuold surgess when people find them then shoot Martin a Pm
with a short hello and a few words about to look at it
and then it is his choice if he want to remove them
its the only way we can help him , to point where there seems to be a problem

Rick, looking at TajamcKeowan’s introduction reminds me of Spock’s comment:

It’s English, Jim. But not as we know it!

Isn’t THAT the unfortunate Truth!!

I just had a look at a Project ….. “I done this for my Old Lady (I HATE that expression!!) its made of Cedur & Pien. I staned it with miwax mahugany. Than 3 coats of Polie.” etc. Also, that which has become all to common …2 of the pictures where Sideways and the one that was straight had the bottom cut off. All 3 where so dark, you could barely make them out!!

”This is my Woodworking Project that I’m so Proud of!” ( My Words) HELLO!!

There’s at least SIX more on the lead page again!!! I left them a Message!

I’m also not about to start sending “Mails” to “Administration” evry time I see one. THAT would be a Full Time Job!!

My profile tells me to buy some exercise equipment.

If you look at the new members on the related sites, GardenTenders and HomeRefurbers, you will see the same garbage. I thought that after the long ban on new members there would be a solution to these problems.

I left the site (Not Active) during that Ban. I don’t know what it was suppose to acheive. I THINK it was right at the time of the “Amalgamation” or “Sale”. Maybe they just wanted to slow things down a little until they got all set up???

I noticed the same thing on the other sites also. Perhaps “Management” can’t really stop this stuff at SIGN UP. Whatever someone does after they get on here is a different story.

If you click “Jocks” there are a number of categories in there. one is “Online Now”. At 9:30PM EST there where 109 online. (Shows at the bottom of the page) Now at 11:15PM EST there are 75 Online. BUT! This is a Global Site so I’m not really sure what those figures say??

“Most Recent” shows 79 New Members from 40 seconds to 24 Hours.

“Most Active” shows 26,521 Members which is the Total Membership in order of who has made the most Comments on here, lead by Mr. A1 Jim who, for some reason has me Blocked. Wel…maybe I do… might have something to do with his Sons “Illness”. I’ll leave that alone for various reasons.

One other comment. Despite “Someone” saying different ….it’s NOT the Members Job to find and report theses Spammers.

Well! I just had to DO this Spammer! This is for MEN only Ladies. It’s from 12 Days ago.

I also couldn’t resist going through the last ONE DAYS New Members. 23 in that one day.

I also checked my “Activity List”. I went back 43 Days, they’re still there. I would assume, nobodies looking for them. Maybe it’s just a way to keep the Membership up there. I don’t really know.

Why bother with them? I guess it doesn’t affect the Site one way or another.
