Yesterday I sold me steel city granite top 8” jointer with much sadness. I had outgrown it and replaced it but it really was a good jointer and even though the segmented head was a true helical, it really handled mesquite with it’s crazy grain like a champ.

After the buyer left, I decided to look up some things on a couple other Steel City tools I want to sell and also, saw something on auction that piqued my interest.

Well, I thought the legacy site was still up but when I clicked it, I got a Canadian site with lots of new products.
They expanded their offerings by a lot and even added some industrial type. Although, it looks like they’re just buying the standard Asian factory offerings and rebadging it. I wonder how they will do competing against General International who already have a firm foothold on that market.

I had another thread going on this, but I have a US Steel City table saw and needed a part. The canadian steel city guys have some parts for older machines left over from the US operation that closed.

Just for the guys with Steel City machines who might see this.

Thanks,
Mike

What did you replace it with? Jointers are my favorite machine in a shop

Here’s the link to the post I made with all the pics.

For some reason, they’re my favorite too. To me, the single pedestal styles like this and my 20” I’m restoring have a great style and beauty to them.
