I am in need of a radial arm drill press for 6” hole cutting. I coould use some input from anyone with experience with these drill presses. The ones that I am looking at are Grizzly 9969 and Rikon. There aren’t a lot of these to choose from.

Depending on what you are using for cutting the hole, I wouldn’t get a drill with less than 1 hp. The Grizzly meets that requirement. I the smaller Grizzly radial drill, with the 1/2 hp motor, and it won’t drill over a 2” hole with a forstner bit. I can go up to a 4” with a hole saw, but have to take it slow.

Well if I can’t get the 20” delta/Porter Cable I am going to get the Grizzly bench top.

I have a radial arm drill press. I am not sure why you would need a radial arm to cut a 6” diameter hole…I would say any old drill press could do that. If you do not already have one, they are sort of neat.
