Is there anyway to convert a model 180 with the 3 cutter head to a spiral cutter head? It’s a Powermatic model 180 (gold with the green stripe) built around 1990. Thanks for any input.

Have you considered replacing the cutter head with a Shelix cutter head with the carbide inserts or is that what you are asking about? Grizzly tools have some heads made by Byrd Tools. I know they have one that will fit my 15” Powermatic so there is probably one for what ever size yours is.

Here is another company that has an 18” planer head for the 180. Expensive at $1800.00

That’s what I was looking for, Thanks. $1500 but it’s cheaper than a new planer, going to upgrade the beast.
