Just thought I’d share, because no one else I know would appreciate this restoration like I know this group will -

That looks pretty good, I hope the seller gets every penny of the $1200 asking price. I’m thinking about selling my 1940(41?) and the more I can get for it, the more wood and consumables for future projects. The photography work on that saw is very good too, no doubt that will help generate some interest!

Only thing missing is the goose egg motor cover. I bought a great fiberglass reproduction for my saw. If that thing is as good mechanically as it is cosmetically, someone ought to jump on it.

Only thing missing is the goose egg motor cover.

Those were optional, so a lot of them never had one.

Cheers,
Brad

How much would a goose egg go for? Theoretically :)

He must have put the ad in a lot of different cities. The map shows that it’s in Jackson, Tn.the add shows it in the Milwaukee Craigslist. Jackson is only about 80 miles from me. He should get the money for that saw, it’s one of the best I’ve seen. And saws are not real cheap around this part of the country. I know Brad is drooling.

I got lucky & picked up a motor cover,
2 hp, 3 phase motor, switch, & plate for
$50 on CL last week. First time I ever
saw one for sale other than on EBay. The seller switched a 3 phase Saw over
to single phase & cover didn’t fit anymore.
I don’t think he new how rare they are.

Andy, that’s a screaming deal for the cover alone, never mind the motor and switch too! I see them when they come up typically between $300 – $450, for $50, I’d buy all I could find. I’ve looked for quite some time for my old saw but less interested now that I’m thinking of selling it.

Mine was a reproduction in fiberglass. Some guy on OWWM ( http://www.vintagemachinery.org/ ) was making and selling them. i paid $130 for mine a few years back, I might be able to find his email address if you can’t locate. i took a quick look and looks like you could track down a reproduction, maybe even one in metal!

I’m good. Thanks though. I was wondering the value of the one I have.
