Thanks to Calgirl for reminding me that I had this book. If anyone is interested here is a book from 1880-1883 on the use of the square. It’s public domain. The best way to look at it is to right click on it and select “Save Target As” and save it to your computer It’s 23 megs. It has just about every possible use of the framing square there is. I didn’t realize that they were using http://www.arealnice.com/Temp/Steel_Square_1883.pdf -- Gary, East TX -- The longest journey begins with a single step. |

Wow. What an amazing little book. I love to read the 19th century prose- it makes our own conversations seem crude and uneducated. -- The days are long and the years are short... |

Well, thanks, Gary. I have a weakness for these old books. Guess I’ll be sitting around reading this for a while. -- Tim -- http://tmuli.com |

Thanks for the post Gary. Even though I have 4 of these I am still learning things about them and how to use them. -- With God's help all things are possible- even woodworking. Woodworking is not just a hobby, it is an (expletive deleted) expensive hobby. |

Hey Gary; To bad they didn’t have levels. The original drawings for the pyramids were found recently. They were trying to build a highrise. Lee -- by Lee A. Jesberger http://www.prowoodworkingtips.com http://www.ezee-feed.com |

Thanks Gary! I used to have a large blueprint of my Dad’s with all of the uses for a square. I can’t seem to find it. It must be like my square, it seems to hide on me when, even when I’m using it. I set it down, & turn around, & it’s gone. ;o) -- -** You are never to old to set another goal or to dream a new dream ****************** Dick, & Barb Cain, Hibbing, MN. http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/gallery/member.php?uid=3627&protype=1 |

Man I thought that I was the one with gremlin hiding my tools on me! I hate having to go get the wife to help me find a tool that I just laid down not 30 seconds ago! -- //FC - Round Rock, TX - "Experience is what you get just after you need it" |
