Sorry if something like this has been posted here before, but I really need the solid advice. I am going to look for old posts in the meantime, but just in case, I wanted to make a fast post.

So I am getting ready to (fingers crossed) get a new home, and by “getting ready” I mean doing construction while home hunting. So I am ripping out old walls, shelves etc. and have a BUNCH of 2×4 shorts. For the past few months, I’ve just been using them as firewood. But its the winter, so fire pit is out of the question. I feel horrible just tossing any wood out, so I was even chipping some of them for bedding.

Here is where I get to the meat of my post. I want to use them for something. The key is, I would love the idea to be more practical, something I can actually get some use out of. Perhaps something that would benefit the sale/decore of my old home. Maybe a wood plank wall? Any ideas would really be appreciated.

P.S my favorite style is mid-century modern/modern Scandinavian

Also, pictures would really help. Thank you very much in advance, happy new year, and hope everyone had a wonderful holiday

If they are at least semi hard like Douglas fir you might use some for end grain cutting boards.

I wish. The semi-hard ones I get typically go towards work benches and such. If I do have anything left towards the end they get mixed into a pile of junk. Sadly my shop is VERY outta sorts right now.

2 by 4’s can also be 1 by 4’s with a little work. glue ups can make a wide panel
how long are the “shorts?”
