I received a RH Skew Block plane from Lee Valley for Christmas. Looking for some first hand “experience” with users. I have yet to use this plane, but there seems to be a little “looseness” in the fence rod and fence. When I tighten the thumb screw all the way down, I can move the fence up and down relative to the sole. I feel if the fence was “off the sole”, I could rotate it 360 degrees. Also, there is a very minor movement in the (what I think) thread area where the fence rod attaches to the body, thus allowing for the fence to actually skew a minuscule amount.

The only skew block I’ve worked with is a LN one and the fence locks up tighter than a drum.

Anyone have a LV and can comment/correct/corroborate/refute my findings?

Thanks,
Kevin

My fence rotated a bit. Didn’t move laterally though. I put a thicker fence to accommodate small rabbets.

Lee alley is very good about correcting problems and issues.
