Topic tags/keywords: jig sharpening question

I would appreciate anybody out there giving me information about the Sharp Skate III. Its a sharpening guide or honing guide, for chisels, plane irons etc. It basically, holds the iron or chisel at a repeatable angle and allows you to move it across a stone sideways. This should let you use all the stone and supposedly makes it more accurate, better edge, longer lasting, etc. Does it? Its pricey…like $170. Again, thanks for the help! http://hmsenterprises.com/getsharper.com.html

I don’t do much sharpening. I’ve been saying I was going to buy a sharpening jig for over a year now. So I have no experience with the jig you are referring too. However, in my humble opinion, it looks like a very expensive and very over complicated version of most other sharpening jigs I see on the market today.
Keep in mind please, I may be wrong. It is just my initial opinion from going to the site that you linked to.
