Some time ago I came across a fellow that went to school in Europe to learn marquetry, when he returned after honing his skills he opened a school where the students build their own marquetry saw (or what ever its called) I can not find him or where he is located, it may be in New England but I am not sure. I know this is not much information but I was hoping someone may have come across him or know of him.

Just as you would think I ended up finding the School. I was a little off in my thinking it was in New England. Turns out its in San Diego here is the THE AMERICAN SCHOOL OF FRENCH MARQUETRY I am thinking about going again now that I am retired I figured “Why Not”!.
Has anyone thought of going to this or taken classes there?

Shipwright, on this forum has built a Chevalet and is in the process of teaching himself marquetry. Check out his blog. Serious marquetry work would really be made easier with a Chevalet. After using his, I think I could EVENTUALLY do passable marquetry. Without a Chevalet, I wouldn’t even try.

Sandhill If you check out the postings that Shipwright has done, you’ll see the Chevalet that he built and is now using.

I decided to take the short cut and sent in my registration for the American School of French Marquetry in San Diego. I hope to get in the June 13th class if it goes well I will go back for the others in Oct and Feb.
