I own a small production cabinet shop and being that we are starting to make our own doors, I am needing some suggestions on a good power feeder for my shaper that is dedicated to making raised panels. That particular shaper is a Grizzly G1026 with 3HP. (It unfortunately doesn’t have the balls to mill the panels in one or two passes). What would you guys suggest, a 1/2HP? or a 1HP? 3 wheels, or 4 wheels? The one that I really want is the Grizzly track feeder, but at $1,500.00+ it would be a big investment. The Grizzly 1/2HP is just a $100 or so less than their 1HP, but they both have 3 wheels. What do you guys recommend for under $1,500?

(Please keep the comments about making my own doors out of this conversation. I know that many of you would suggest that I order them, and sometimes I will, but for our smaller jobs I prefer to make them ourselves to save time.)

If your going to only have one…..you will want the one hp three three wheel…..

The 1/2 would have the power but the one hp has a bit more physical weight which is key.

And , your three hp 1026 has the beef to do panel raising in one pass for sure, unless your doing something a bit unusual

unless your doing lots of small parts, you do not need a track feeder

I’d hold out and see if a Weaver PF comes up. You would be surprised this time of year.. Have several sitting around at work but they store them…

Are the Weaver power feeders better than the Grizzly power feeders? I am open to buying used. I actually need 4 feeders in total. One for my shaper dedicated to running the stiles, one for my dedicated table saw to dado face frame stiles, one of making raised panels, and am considering one for my jointer for edge jointing.

Have your say...
