Topic tags/keywords: resource jig tip drill press hole saw cuting holes

Hey Guys:

I just noticed in Canadian Tires Flyer a 15 Piece Holesaw Kit, Item # 54-7914-6, at 70% Off. Regular Price is $129.00 for $38.95. They are BI-METAL HSS. 1/4” to 2-1/2”, 2 Arbors with Adjustable Pilot Bits and 2 Extra Pilot Bits. Pic below.

ONLY 3 Days left, though.

I bought a set of these Last Year at 50% off. I’m very happy with them. They seemed to Burn a fair bit, but that was my Fault. I lowered my DP Speed from about 1000 RPM to about 570 RPM, that helped a fair bit. Then I remembered in my ”Jigs File” something about helping to prevent the Burning.

Pics of that are below. Basically, Pre Drill about a 1/2” hole all the way through, touching the inside edge of the Hole Saw, Hole Cut. (I did 2 Holes oppsite each other). That did it! It gets rid of the Cuttings and brings Air into the Cut.

Guess that’s about all. Hope it’s of some benefit.

Rick

I’ve bought some Bi-Metal hole saws and we use them in our toy making process for making wheels.

I’ve found that if the edge of the hole saw is in an open space then the saw dust can escape and it cuts easier.

I like you idea of a forstner hold on the edge of the cut.

Topamax:

Not sure if they do or not. I’ll grab the Link so you can find out, right back.

Hey!! That’s one of my “Not Yet Used Avatars’....”Smiling Gorilla’” I think. That’s okay. You have My Permission …LOL… Be right back…

IF this Link works it should take you to “Tools”. I had a look around and couldn’t find anything about Shipping Period! Which, seeing as how this is their WWW Site seems a little UHMMM Stupid?

Karson:

Might I sugest that if you are making “Wheels” that you put the “Pre-Drill Hole’ on the “Outside” of the intended cut. If not…It’s gona be a Bumpy Ride!!!

Just “Havin’ At Ya” my Friend …LOL…

Unless it goes back to something he told me on a Post a while back. In the “Good Old Days” (and they were!) you HAD to be a Journey Man Carpenter BEFORE you could become an Apprentice Electrician!!

That is “GOOD STUFF”!!!!

My Pleasure Scott!! I have a Cousin who lives in Burnaby. He makes “Replica Antique Furniture”. Primarily for Clients who need one or two more “Antique Chairs” to go with what they have.

Guy is amazing! Clients usually can’t tell which is which when they come bak to pick them up!!

OOPS!! Sorry! He lives in Kelowna. Hey! It’s ALL Beautiful Country out there! Right?
