Topic tags/keywords: question van dykes orders order

Has anyone else had any dealings/problems with Van Dyke’s Restorers? http://www.vandykes.com/
I place an order with them on 2/16/11 and still haven’t received it. I finally called them to inquire about the order on or about 3/3/11 and was told “your order is still sitting in our warehouse”. Of course they didn’t have any problem accepting my payment on the day the order was placed…...
I have some more item’s I’d like to order from them. BUT don’t want to place another order if the same problem will happen again.
PLEASE GIVE ME FEEDBACK ON THE SELLER?

Hey John. I am in from the shop for lunch. I did business with Van Dyke’s only once, approximately 10 years ago. If I recall, I bought some mirror hangers (so the mirror can pivot on a turned post) and some other hardware from them. I had no problems and received my items in a timely fashion. Again, it was about 10 years ago so I don’t know if that info is of any help to you today. Good luck!

John, I don’t deal with them on a regular basis but, like Lenny said, the times that I have there were no problems with my orders. It just so happened that I placed an order with them on Friday night and I received my e-mail order confirmation on Saturday that the item had been shipped.

I will let you know when it comes in.

I am having the same problem – ordered some hardware for the bar I am building two weeks ago. Called today and was told the end-caps were backordered and did I want to ship the other items seperate? Nice of them to contact me about it huh? Oh wait…I called them. Not sure I will deal with them again unless they are the ONLY place I can find something….

Weren’t they just sold to Cabela’s or some other conglomerate? Seems to me there was some change of ownership thing going on…. Though I’ve been quite happy with my two purchases with them a while back.

No, Cabela’s SOLD Van Dykes,

http://seekingalpha.com/news-article/173398-van-dyke-s-restorers-sold-to-new-owner

Cabela’s themselves are the #1 catalog merchant and have a fantastic shipping service.

I’ve ordered from Van Dykes often for many years and always had excellent service.

I hope the new owners don’t mess up a good source for me.

Good luck

Subject: COMPLAINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Importance: High

This order has been handled totally unprofessionally!!!! I ordered these on 2/16/11 and the were paid for with my Visa card. It was needed quickly to complete a commission. Now my customer is fuming! If I had not called it may still be sitting in your warehouse.

It did not show up as needed so I called about the order on 3/2/11 and the gal said “oh that order is still in the warehouse”. It was now supposed to be sent FEDEX almost 1/2 a month later!

Hi John, I did have problems a couple of times some years ago. Many items back ordered. On other occasions they were fine. Glad to see you got a good letter back.

John, FYI the order I placed last Friday night arrived today. It was sent by USPS so this is about normal for shipping via US mail. If they had sent the item by FedEx or UPS it would have arrived 2 or 3 days ago.

So to answer your question, I can’t really complain at all about Van Dykes shipping as I have never had any problems with them.

I finally received my 2/16/2011 today 3/11/2011 not by FedEx as promised by via the USPS. Are these people on drugs or are they drinking to much? ;-)
But by the way the pulls I ordered are nice.

Finally got my hinges. Ordered on 2/27/11 and received on 4/12/2011. 44 days or 6 weeks and 2 days. That is just plain pathetic.

I ordered some bar foot rail hardware, and the end caps were back ordered (which did NOT show when I ordered them). After waiting almost two weeks I called and that is when they informed me about the BO situation (yes they had my email and phone number) – and that they were waiting on them to come in. I asked that they send the items in stock now and ship the ends later (they were expected in the next few days). The instock items shipped that day…I am STILL waiting on the end caps (been almost 2 mos) and had to call them AGAIN to have them tell me “the manufacturer changed their shipping date, two more weeks”....I will NOT order from them again.

Have your say...
