1/4 hp Wecheer Flex shaft Carver kit on sale at Woodcraft … any recommendations ?

I have been in the market for a power carver.

Anyone have anything to say about the Wecheer brand?

I know Foredom is the benchmark, but pricey.

@ $139.99 for the Wecheer kit seems like a good deal.

any feedback is appreciated

Regards

Dan, I recently got this model made by the same company:

It works well and seems well made. although I’m new to carving and don’t really have anything to compare it to.

Dan,
It is too bad you are not closer to Peoria, Illinois. This was in my inbox this morning. They are going to be featuring the tools that are on sale.

Stop by your Peoria Woodcraft Store on Saturday, March 8th at 1:00pm for a FREE Power Carving Demo! Let us show you how you can tackle a complete range of projects, from fine detail work with smaller burrs to roughing-out at a much greater speed than can be done by hand. Don’t miss this opportunity to have a cup of coffee and talk shop with fellow woodworkers.

Dan,
I have the add-on power carving handset and cable attachment to a Dremel-type tool which is manufactured by Weecher.
While it is adequate, I think if I was going to buy a dedicated power carving tool I would get the Proxxon hand-held tool instead. I have had the opportunity to test the Weecher and the Proxxon handhelds side-by-side, and the Proxxon seemed to be more vibration free and of a higher degree of fit and finish. Just my 2ยข.
