Topic tags/keywords: question lathe turning

I have an idea for a pen blank but have no clue how to do it. I want to take a few different species of wood and cut them into 1/16” pieces and glue them together and then steam and twist the blank to make a unique pen blank and then turn into a pen. The problem is I have the idea but have no clue on how to go about steaming and twisting. I’m not sure what kind of glue to use or if CA glue would even work. Anybody have any ideas I would love to hear them.

Interestsing coincidence, Adam—I just accomplished this on a larger scale and will be posting some images and text tomorrow. I had no idea what I was doing—I think the title of the project will be “ready fire, aim”—but it appeared to work when I scraped the glue and peeked yesterday.

Could you send me a copy of the info when you get it put on here please. I am also on another wood working forum called “” and got some ideas but not sure if I want to go through with them. Would like to take a look at what you have and read over it before I make a decision on what I want to do. If you could let me know how you do it I would appreciate it much.

Thanks for letting me know.
