Hi—

I’m a pleased customer, daily user. I spend a similar amount of time at www.talkbass.com where I subscribe to several threads, which I think is the same as “watchlist.”

When I go to that thread, current page, there is a button at the top left that says, “view first unread” and clicking that takes me right to where I want to be.

Seems silly to ask for that little feature, but I think about it every time I scroll and scroll down looking for the latest.

Would it be possible to incorporate this feature in our already well tricked out forum?

Kindly,
Lee

I thought we had it already. Go to your watchlist, or just look either in the abbreviated Pulse field at the bottom of any page, or the full Pulse page. If there are new posts, there will be a link in green showing how many new posts there are since you last looked. I’ve noticed that it doesn’t always work, but that’s another issue.

I think I know what you’re pointing out, JJ: When I go to Pulse there is a button at the top that chooses “unread items.”

My request regards what happens next. You select a thread, and no matter its length, you arrive at the top, the Original Post. You then must scroll down until you get to the latest post then, most likely, scroll back up to find your place.

At TB, you go to the thread and can select the button that says “view first unread” and you are taken to the first post that you have not read. It’s a simple convenience, but one I think LJs would really appreciate.

Kindly,

Lee

Now THAT feature could save time on LJs and increase time in the SHOP! I agree, that would be nice to have. My 2-cents votes YES…

When you go to your watch list it tells you how many new posts there are in green. If you click on that green number you will go to the first new post.

What Jack said is correct. The tricky thing is getting your pulse page personalized to suit your own preferences, Lee. But I think you will find the capability is there to do what you want.

As I said, though, it doesn’t always work, and I don’t know why. It never works if there are pictures embedded anywhere in the thread.

on the pulse page,
  • if you click on the left side (the title) it will take you to the top of the page.
  • If you click on the right side (number of new posts since your last visit,) it will take you directly to the comments that you have not read yet.

Hitting your “home” button on your keyboard will take you back to the top of the page. (I think that is what the key is called).

As for embedded pictures, that is due to the time it takes your computer to load the images.
My old computer- took forever; new computer – fast – and I get right to the last messages.
