I’m getting ready to upgrade my dust collection system (Bill Pentz design) and I would like to go with a cyclone but the one thing I don’t like about cyclones is the little metal garbage can. Has anyone ever come up with an alternate method for a larger bin other than the small garbage can? I also have a widebelt sander and I’m worried I might constantly be cleaning filters or does the cyclone catch the fine dust as well?

Cyclones Are exellent at collecting fine dust. Thats the main reason for buying one. If hieght isnt an issue you can use a 55 gallon fibre drum or you can put a wye at the bottom of the cyclone and run two 30 gal drums. I have a clearvue and in two months of use i hardly have any dust at all it my clean out bin.

That’s good to hear. I was worried that the fine dust from the sander would pass right through the cyclone to the filters.
