I have been building several rocking chairs lately and I would like to start numbering them. To sign the work I use an electric brand with my name on it but what should I use to number it?

Thanks

I usually number mine also. I just use the date with 01, 02, etc at the end. It kind of makes a serial number. So if I completed it today and it was the first made, it would be 03041101. You also could add two or three letters at the beginning or end to designate it as a rocking chair like RC03041101. I also keep a spread sheet with these numbers which also lists the build date, project type, wood, stain color, finish type, cost, and who received it, the date received, and what they were charged. I use a branding iron for my name, but the problem I have is that I havent been able to find one that has numbers on it that are changable. I free hand the number now.
