Hi, Can anyone help with some info on the Steel City 50100 bandsaw. I’m looking at a used one and can’t find very much information about them. Would love to know what owners of this model think . Thanks, Mike

I’ve had one since 2009. Mine does not have the granite top, but it’s the same model. It even says 14” deluxe granite on it, but I got it on a special from Highland Woodworking during the transition period to granite, which is why they had the sale I guess. I still really like it and I’m glad I bought it although I have seen some great deals on Craigslist since then that momentarily made me regret buying new. I have used it long enough to wear out one Woodslicer blade already and now have another 1/2” Woodslicer plus a 1/4” blade and I swap between the two. Overall, fairly light but regular use over the last two years and no issues. I got the 6” riser kit and installed it immediately. I’ve resawn 12” pine, 10” white oak, 8” mahogany, and 5” osage orange with no problem at all. The roller bearings work well when using the smaller blade and cutting a lot of curves. Blade change is easy. Dust collection is okay, but it could probably use a couple more brushes on the wheels, or maybe it’s just because I cut a lot of pine which gums up on the wheels. Any specific questions, please feel free to ask.

Dale, Thanks so much for the help. Unfortunatly I missed out on the saw . I couldn’t get off work soon enough and someone else beat me to it. I was debating between the Steel City or a new Grizzly GO555 guess I’ll have to go with the new one. Wish I had joined LJ sooner, lots of helpful folks in here. Thanks again, Mike
