MLCS, cast iron router table.

I’m getting ready to purchase a new router table.
With so many choices I’m kind of stumped. I’m really thinking that the MLCS cast iron table is a good choice, but what is the deal with the inserts on the MDF tables? (Freud, Woodpeckers Kreig) The cast tables don’t have them. Are they necessary?
And has anyone else purchased a MLCS table?

I assume you are talking about the rectangular insert that the router bolts to? I think the theory is that MDF is just too soft to stand up to the stress long term without have a solid surface to attach the router to.
