Just crop pictures before posting.
You don’t have to change much. Make
sure to save the change. For some reason
this works for me on I phone.

Sounds like to me you are taking the pic with your camera roared 90 degrees or from Landscape to portrait… The camera and this site don’t know the difference. There should be some app on your phone camera or computer to orient them the correct way.

Roughneck, what device are you using to take the pics you’re posting?

Use any photo editor to rotate the image 360 degrees and then save it. It can be done while still on your phone or on your computer. It should post correctly after that.

It would always help to get more details on a problem….any problem. The chance of someone actually helping with no details given is very low. Help others help you!

In this case, what phone or device and how are you posting it….directly from your phone with an iPhone?

Maybe you need to take your pics with your subject matter rotated 90 degree in the opposite direction then when you post em they will be correct.

As mentioned above by me and Andy, it seems that making any type of simple edit and then saving the photo before posting to LJ will result in the photo being correctly oriented. I simply rotate the photo 90 degrees four times and then save it before posting. Works every time.

It’s the resaving that fixes the problem. The site can’t read metadata. Must of the time phone pics are sideways because the camera was in the wrong orientation or because auto rotate is turned off.
