I just read the ad in WOOD magazine online and at the Grizzlly website for 17” band saws. Does anyone have a G0513P 17” 2 HP or G0513 2 HP Band saw? I can’t get to one locally to try them out. I have a Ridgid band saw and it sucks as far as re-sawing. I want to get a good re saw capable band saw under $1000 advice needed. The ads look good and the price on these seems right.

I have the 17” 513X2. It is set up a dedicated resaw machine with the Laguna Drift Master Fence and Laguna Resaw King Blades. The blades are on sale to Sawmillcreek members for $95

I regularly resaw exotic hardwoods for veneer and it performs great. Don’t sell the Ridgid, you will find yourself using it for all sorts of detail work.

Thanks Marco. I had planned on keeping the Ridgid for band saw boxes etc. I really want to be able to resaw 8” – 10” boards for “string” boxes and to make my own veneers.

I bought my 14in Deluxe Rikon BS last year at WC for just $699 on sale. WC now wants $899 (Reg. Price) and go on sale at $799 on occasion. Just need to wait on the sale/promotion.

BTW, the 14in Rikon on the WC website shows all the information such as; It has a 13” resaw capacity, It can easily be rewired to run on 220v to make the most out of the 1.5hp motor, etc.

The most I have resawed to date is about 7-8” as I recall. BTW, it also has a decent (but not best) fence included, IMO. I really like this BS and am glad I chose this saw and could support my local WC at the same time. If you have not already done so, check out the LJs reviews on this BS. It matchs your price and resaw criteria.
