I am thinking it’s maple, but don’t want to taint the survey. Feels like it has the density of hard maple.

Thank you for your support.

(BTW: I have collected a lot of lumber pieces over the years from a local lumber supplier and that is why I have many items I can’t readily identify.)

99.999% sure it’s Maple, but IDK, it could be Alder.
We’ll see what the rest of the authorities have to say.

The Alder joke is getting really stale and stupid sounding. I have seen at least one post where someone unfamiliar with the forum history was grossly misled.

I am pretty sure the wood is maple. I can’t tell if it is hard maple.

I have maple and alder in my wood supply, alder is much lighter in an maple, that’s one way to tell.

I’m 103% sure it’s alder but it kinda looks like mapley alder.

At the lumber yard I frequent, the guy identifies hard maple with his utility knife. If he can’t even dent it, it’s hard maple…
