Topic tags/keywords: dc-380 planer outfeed roller g1021

So I finally stepped up and bought a “real” planer to replace the Delta 22-560 I have had for the past 10 years. I purchased a Delta DC-380 15” planer off of Craigslist, but it needs a little TLC. I noticed the outfeed roller has a polyurethane coating that is worn, so I looked to buy a replacement. I first ordered an real Delta part, but it was backordered. I noticed the Grizzly G1021 is almost identical, except for the stand, so I ordered an outfeed roller from Grizzly, which I have just received.

To my surprise, the Grizzly roller is solid steel. It appears to be the proper diameter, and it looks like it will fit, but I have never seen a solid outfeed roller before. Is this the right roller for my planer, or do I need to return it and wait for the actual Delta part to become available?

Well if it were me, I would try it out and see if it works, then if it dosent return it and wait for the real part from delta to become available.

my powermatic 15” planer has a solid steel outfeed roller it works real fine. have had it for almost 13 years
so I would try it and if it works use the steel ones last a lot longer than the (poly) rubber ones
had one of those on a craftsman, it didn’t last very long.

It is good to hear the Powermatic has a solid outfeed roller. I guess I will give it a try

This is probably more for posterity. I put a solid G1021 outfeed roller on my DC-380, and it fits and works. The roller pressure settings from the G1021 manual are more applicable than the DC-380 as the solid roller takes a bit more pressure to not slip.
