Woodpecker is planning to discontinue their original router lift, the PRL. They announced a clearance sale on their remaining inventory. I ordered one on January 10th.

Then I was advised that their would be a 4-6 week wait for delivery. If you are selling off the existing inventory, why the wait? Nonetheless, I decided to wait it out. Then I got a second notice that the delivery would not be until mid-April. What’s going on?

I called today to cancel my order. When talking to the customer service representative (who was very nice) I asked why the delay on a discontinued product. The answer is that due to some screw-up, they dramatically oversold their remaining inventory. They had to re-start their production of the product.

The good news – If you are one who ordered the PRL at the special close-out price of $199 (regular price $299) you can cancel your order and get the PRL-V2 at a discounted price of $299 (regular price $329).

It’s not a huge discount like they offered on the PRL, but it is still a relatively good deal.

Woodpecker still screwed up, but I give them some credit for attempting to rectify the situation. I still claim they are a good company with an excellent product line.

Just a sidenote – Incra’s price on the PRL-V2 is always $299, with the difference being the plate is a Magnalock (magnetic ring) instead of Woodpeck’s own plastic twist-lock rings. I have both types of plates in my shop and vastly prefer Magnalock.

Just throwing that out there…

Also, if you sign up for Incra’s newsletter, they send you a 10% off coupon – lowering the price to $270. My Jointech lift stripped out and I was considering one. I like that magnalock idea.
