I find there to be very little available around this area in used tools. Most of what’s available is pure junk and the stuff that is decent quality is always overpriced IMO to even consider buying used. I know when I put something in the classifieds, I price it to sell… I guess some people just have a different mindset. Anyway, in the bandsaw department, I rarely see anything bigger than 14” and 1HP.

Today, I found a 20” 3HP model B1329 Craftex bandsaw in the classifieds for $800. I searched the forum (and google) for this model and found nothing in the way of reviews. I was just wondering if anybody here has any experience with this model as it looks to be in good shape and the asking price seems reasonable.

It’s certainly a big piece of machinery (user manual says 550lbs) and I’m not even sure if it’s practical for me to get it since I would likely have to find a way to get it into a basement but if any of you guys tell me it’s a lemon then I don’t have to beat myself up over the decision :)

Having a big bandsaw will change the way you work… in a good way.

Looks like a pretty good deal. In a big US city it might be a little spendy,
but for where you are it might be a good opportunity for you.

Keith, that is probably nominal price for that machine. I am not at all familiar with that one. From the pics it appears to be of asian influence. Not all bad but some are better than others. The guide wheel support looks alittle weak. The motor is definatly asian, the table looks fairly beefy, the fence looks iffy. The upper sheet metal looks sorta poorly fitted. The 3hp is a plus. If it did in fact cost what is claimed when new I would say pay no more than 35% of orig. cost. Im always sad to hear that some peaple can never find used equip. in their respective area. I have always been in an area quite the oppisate.DFW, tx where you can find anything at any price conceivable. In fact serious equip. right now is had for small change (relativly speaking). Good luck with your decision.

Yeah, I would pay less too where I am, but if you are out in the boonies
it’s different. Offer $400 and see what the seller says. They may be motivated
to clear the space.

Have your say...
