Someone recommended Central Hardwoods to me just yesterday. Haven't been there yet but he said it was cheaper than Wood World and had a much better selection of cabinet grade plywood as well.

McKinney Hardwood. Small operation run by Michael Mastin. High quality wood, good prices. Cannot recommend him highly enough.

EDIT - aaaaaaand, I see you know about him.

The problem I have with Brazos and Central HW is that you can't go back in the warehouse to pick through the lumber yourself. At least I've never been able to. They have good stuff and if you don't like what you get you can exchange it but I'm just not a fan of those kinds of yards. After learning the hard way, I've become extremely picky with what I get and just as stubborn for me wanting to be the one who gets it.

Craigslist has some sawyers that pop up every now and then, some are close to DFW, some not so close. I live in DFW but found a a place in Waco that's worth the drive because it sells the best mesquite I've ever seen, the owner said he would like to expand to sell a more hardwoods.

I've never been here because I've been satisfied with the sawyer I know (who doesn't live in Dallas), McKinney and WW- Hardwood Lumber Co.
Would like to hear someone's opinion about it.

Hey Chasint, might check out Central Hardwoods over in Carrolton…decent prices and good selection. There's also Hardwood Lumber Company over on Goodnight lane (literally a couple blocks east of Central Hardwoods)...good selection and very good staff. Definitely check out Brazos that Fridge mentioned above, great place to buy from when you need something in a large quantity…have a buddy that needed a large load of cedar for some outdoor furniture he was building, forgot what he paid but I remember it was a really good price on it. Also, if you're patient, keep an eye on craigslist, can find some local guys posting on there every now and then at decent prices….
