I have learned a lot about woodworking from various youtube sources and purchased videos as well as LJ posts. I would like to learn about use of hand tools. I don’t plan to leave my power tools but appreciate the value of developing skills like use of hand planes and chisels. Videos are one source but use of hand tools seems to me to require more guidance on technique. Does anyone know of classes in the SW Missouri area? Thanks!

At one time SMSU had a woodworking program. Across the state line Pittsburg State University has a wood technology program. It may offer summer course in hand tools. School of the Ozarks is another to check out. The only one I know of offering short courses and has a wide diversity of them is the Marc Adams School of Woodworking.

or North Bennet Street School has entire programs of traditional crafts.

Thanks for the links. Will check those out. Another mentioned to me is OTC (Ozarks Technical Community College).

I hear some Rockler and Woodcraft stores have hand tool classes sometimes. If you have one near enough you could check out their schedules.

Unfortunately, have neither one nearby. I gave seen their announcements of sessions on various topics and wished I could attend.
