First I like to say hello to all, this is my first post here. But to get to the point. Im looking for the web site here in Canada that has the wooden window double pane retrofit kit. My house is 130 great years old, but would like to change the wooden and storms for the retro kit. I would hate to go new, due to only one window has to replaced.

Can you use the existing window for a pattern? If you make a double pane window and seal the glass real good then fill the void between the panes with argon gas, no and I mean no temp change will happen with it. Just a couple of quarter inch holes on top, one to fill the argon and the other to allow the air to escape, then seal with dowels and silicone. Works great here in the desert. You need to seal the wood inside the void before installing the glass.

Welcome recce41.Our sister site homerefurbers. Up there in the top right. You can use your lj credentials and log in. As far as the house repair those guys might have a good dealer near you they trust.

I think you are talking about “window jamb liners” which would allow you to keep your old sash or “sash replacement kits” like a Tilt Pac which would let you keep your old window trim. -Jack
