As I slowing sand off all the skin on the tips of my fingers making these CROSS-HEARTS, I wonder if you made some sort of TUMLBER like one of those rock tumblers/polishers from the 70s. if you could throw in the rough cute hearts with sand or what ever and tumble them into a smooth rounded form?

You sure can. Harbor Freight sells them along with the media.

Do a search for what you’re polishing and what the best abrasive media to use is.

I have tried it while making small parts for toys. Extremely slow! (days) and discolors the wood. What I ended up doing was to cut out two pieces at a time connected to each other. Big enough to run through my router table safely and then cut them apart.

-- No PHD, but I have a GED and my DD 214
