Anyone know of a source for Hook Loop? I want to make a sanding block that uses the same 5” round H&L paper as my ROS. I assume that not all H&L is created equal??

Try WalMart in the craft section. Look for a product called “Velcro”.

All smart aleckyness aside…. I think hook and loop is more or less intercompatible, You just need loopy material on one side, and hooky material on the other. (Love those technical terms don’t ya?). I have has the misfortune of having velcro loose in a box with some H&L sanding pads, and they sure did grab no problem!

At Home Depot, they sell a self adhesive H&L pad that is designed to us on sanders that were not initially equipped for H&L. The adhesive on it is tough. You could take a block of wood, put one of those on there a bingo, you have an instant block sander. You, sir, have give me an idea.

The only thing I would add is that the adhesive is strong enough to pull the finish off of some poorly finished wood blocks, thus ruining the velcro. IMO, the finish on your block should have many more coats than normal and be well cured. My 2-cents…
