I have a question regarding the blog on Lumberjock. I maintain a woodworking blog on Blogger. Is there any way that I can automatically set it up so that blog will feed to the Lumberjock site?
Thanks in advance, I’m a bit computer resistant but getting better!

I hope this is never enabled. Lumberjocks is a community of wooodworkers and I’d hate to see it get full of redirected blogs by people that don’t actually participate in the community.

Hi Don, check out my blog and you’ll see I’m a serious woodworker too and am just getting into the Lumberjock community. I was only trying to find a simpler way of sharing my work other than re-typing.

I don’t think Don’s comments where directed at you specifically. It’s my opinion that what LJ would turn into is an advertising site for “Hey, check out my blog” posts from people that have no vested interest in LJ. There are few like that now and I hate it. They post just enough for you to look at then you have to go their the www site to read / watch to get the full details. I say no thank you. If you can’t share it here, I’m not buying.

You know I thought about the copy/paste then add picture routine after I asked the question—told you I’m computer resistant!

What Chunkyc said!!!

We all kow who the worst offender is for that nonsense. Not only can MOST of US not comment on his Minimal Entrance to his Blog, because he has most of this Site Blocked. You can’t even comment on his Blog unless you join some “Bloginging Tool” or whatever you call it.

As ChunkyC said ”I say no thank you. If you can’t share it here, I’m not buying.”

On the other hand…John: I had a look at your web site, from your Profile Page and you make some Very Amazing Pieces!!! They are Beautiful!! I believe LJ’s does not have a problem allowing you to Post your own Woodworking Site on your Profile, or on your Signature Line where you presently have your Blog shown.

I noticed that you have Posted One project. Your www site, has some Great Projects that I’m sure we’d all like to see!

May I respectfuly suggest that you Post a few more of them in “Projects”, with a suitable amount of details along with the Posting?? If you choose to do so, along with your www Site on your Signature Line?

I’m not sure if your attemting to drum up more business or just want to show how everything is done. I’m not all that knowledgeable about a Blog versus a Web Site. Maybe it just comes down to Your Personal Preference.

In the meantime…..I’ll look forward to seeing a few of your Projects on LJ’s Project Page.

Regards: Rick

Hey John, Chunk is absolutely correct and he expressed my thoughts better than I did. My comment was not directly targeted at you and I sincerly apologize if it sounded that way. I did look at your blog, you do some wonderful work and it’s great to have you as a Lumber Jock. My concern is that I just don’t want to see comercial sites automatically pumping stuff into LJs by people (or computer programs) who don’t read other peoples posts and aren’t participating in discussions. We already have at least a few LJs that seem to do nothing but post links to their other blogs and we really don’t need any more of that kind of “participation”.

Got It! I agree with all that’s been said. My main intent on my own blog is to share how I go about designing and building my pieces. It started out as a way to keep those ever increasingly rare clients up to date on their project. I’m active in our local woodworkers group and as a retired shop teacher still have the teaching/sharing bug. I’m currently working on a rush seated stool with some Greene & Greene influences and will figure out how to start a blog on LJ.

Okay, I did it!!! If you’re interested check out my first blog and I’d welcome (kind) comments. I got into the Lumber Jocks because a friend of mine in our local club blogged his work on it so here I am.

Forgive me, my splinter-brained colleagues, but I am about to disprove the time-honoured addage regarding the lack of existence of the proverbial “stupid question”.:
What the x coughs x is a blog (as opposed to a long post, thread, etc.?)

Pete:

From one of your “my splinter-brained colleagues,” and disproving the “lack of existence of the proverbial “stupid question”.:”

Please excuse another Stupid Question, but would you enlighten my Stupid Brain as to what it is that you’re Attempting to Say or Ask.

“What the x coughs x is a blog (as opposed to a long post, thread, etc.?)” ????

We all know what a BLOG is and John just put his First One Up in LJ’s BLOG Section 20 minutes ago. You did one 180 Days ago.

OH! I think I just got it! You’re saying that You’re asking a Stupid Question. Right??

Here’s how I think of blog, project, forum topic.

Blog: Think of it as a journal.
Forum: A place to ask questions. If you asking question in a blog, you’ll probably not get many, if any, replies.
Project: Show us your stuff!

Make since? I hope so.
