Topic tags/keywords: question So, when I start looking at new projects, I click the first one and then use the “prev” button under “Everyone’s Projects” to go to the next one and so on. The problem is, sometimes I’m seeing the next project on the “prev” button and when I click it, I go back to the home page for projects instead of going to the previous project. It seems the project number in the address is missing a project so it only knows to go back to the project page. It happened 5-6 times just tonight. Help, -- Jim |

This is just a guess, so don’t take as anything official. The latest LJ’s eMag said that the Projects page should only be used for finished items made from wood. Other things would be removed, and the poster would be emailed with a request to repost to a more appropriate location, such as a blog, review, or forum post. Given how many “project” posts in the past do not meet the criteria of being a finished project made of wood, then perhaps the missing project numbers are things that were removed to be reposted elsewhere. The exact line from the eMag is: What are “projects”? They are finished wood creations that you have made yourself. So what will happen if your posting fits better in another section of the site? We’ll send you a message to have you re-post it in a different section (and we’ll include your written description so it isn’t lost). We will then remove the original post. No worries, no problem. Remember, this is just a guess on my part, but it seems like a reasonable explanation. |

That could be an explanation. I wonder if Martin still answers these types of posts? -- Jim |

Hey Jim: This might sound like a stupid question..but… if all you want to do is look at all the “New Projects” on the “Projects Page”, in their Posted order, and your looking at a Particular Project, why not click the Back button to go back to the “Projects Page” or click “Projects” again, which does the same thing, then click the Next Project that you want to see. HOWEVER I stopped using the “Everyones”.... “Previous” or “Next” a long time ago. Maybe for the same reasons your stating. “Next” to me, means it should take you to the “Next Project” i.e. from 1 to 2 to 3 etc., on the Projects Page but it in fact moves you Back to the “Previous Project” & Vice Versa? Next is Next & Previous is Previous or “Prior To” the one you’re now looking at. I THINK? Okay. Just in case it had changed I just went there and tried it again. AS ABOVE!! Now we’re BOTH Confused ….LOl.. Rick -- ENJOY YOURSELVES GUYS!!! |

Hey Rick, Yeah, Next and Prev are confusing until you realize that the First project is the Last project. LOL I just want the buttons to take me to the projects withouts throwing me back to the Projects page so I can view ALL the projects without skipping anything. How do I know if the ones that show up as Next or Prev are not “finished projects”? They could just be missing somehow. After all these years wishing Marting would cull the things that aren’t finished projects and now this irritation. Bummer. Martin? Are you still out there? Who answers these questions now? -- Jim |

Jim: Then we have the “Hot Projects” which I guess is a bit of an honour to be in. EXCEPT the last time I looked, on the first three or four pages were 2 or 3 Machinery Mods, 2 Lumber Gloats, .....and of course…. Miss… “Isn’t My Sundress Just So Cute” and her “Project Computer Cabinet” that makes no sense to me and she doesn’t follow her own Posting and answer any of the questions. All the “GUYS” just ate it up because She’s in the Lead for “Highest Hot Topic” wih 3,795 Views. Oh well. Does ,,, forget it.. I’m done. Rick -- ENJOY YOURSELVES GUYS!!! |

I guess I’m in a similar fix. I have not been able to view anyone’s projects or my own. Again “Help” -- Terry Ferguson, Bend Oregon |

Hi Jim, yes, I still read and answer these posts. There was a small glitch in the prev-next project code since I added the first project approval requirement for new members. It’s fixed now. -- Martin, http://lumberjocks.com | My Facebook: http://profile.to/msojka |

Hi Terry, I don’t understand how you cannot view projects if you’re able to access this page and post reply. You can access the projects page but you dont see the pictures or you cannot access it at all? -- Martin, http://lumberjocks.com | My Facebook: http://profile.to/msojka |

That is correct – When I go to my “Projects Page” or any other, and click on a project, all I get is the description and blank brown boxes. I ‘m still convinced that I’m doing something wrong but cannot figure it out. At the recommendation of other members, I deleted all history and emptyed cache files. I also must confess to not understanding widgets, & RSS. -- Terry Ferguson, Bend Oregon |

Well, it seems like a problem with your ISP provider. All pictures are showing fine. Could you get in contact with them? -- Martin, http://lumberjocks.com | My Facebook: http://profile.to/msojka |

Terry, just for laughs, go the a projects page and then press and hold down your ctrl key and press the F5 key at the top of your keyboard. It will force a full refresh that may solve the problem. -- Galootish log blog, http://www.timberframe-tools.com |
