I have been designing a toolbox and am in the process of selecting the hardware for it. I have been debating using brusso hinges as they are the best around, but I am still struggling with the price. I would want this toolbox to last me a long time and don’t want to have to replace the hinges, so I was just wondering if Brusso is the only way to go or if there is a slightly cheaper alternative (Around $15).

Lee Valley makes knife hinges too. Good ones.

You can get cheaper ones made from stamped
steel but from the look of them I have my
doubts.

+1 for Lee Valley. You can download their hardware catalog and it has a huge variety of good quality products in the medium price range you’re looking at. Also, sign up for the Brusso newsletter. They have sales from time-to-time of up to 40% off.

Thanks, I’ll definitely keep an eye out for those sales, if there isn’t one by the time I get started I’ll definitely look into Lee valley.

Bigb, take a look at Horton Brasses. They are pretty good, maybe 80-90% of Brusso quality wise IMO.
