What size blades are the best for cutting bandsaw boxes? Is a 3/16 4TPI the
best all around size to use? I have never made a box before and plan on
trying my hand at it and have read a few people saying they use this size. What
is everyone using or recommending for a all around blade size.

Thanks Richard

Depends on your design and how tight you want your corners. Unless you are using something like the Carter Stabilizer on your machine, here is the generic blade size minimum radius chart:

Generally, smaller is better on boxes since you sort of want some rather tight curves. I’ve used 1/4” blades before (smallest I have), and it worked but was a bit of a challenge. 3/16 would have been a better choice (and 1/8” would have been ideal).

Cheers,
Brad

You may want to considering something with a higher tooth count also….maybe a 6tpi. It will make for a smoother cut therefor less sanding.
