Topic tags/keywords: powermatic router woodshop tools routher lift nj

Hello everybody!

You can check out my profile for some pictures of my shop but it’s small and I bought most of the tools used. In the process of buying the planer I also bought a shaper as a set. That said I’ve been using it a bit but really feel it’s overkill for me plus I really don’t have the space.

I’m looking for some info on adding a router setup to my Powermatic PM 2000 (33”). I know powermatic offer a liff but it really doesn’t look that great for the price. Plus they don’t sell it with the table so either you flip for another ext table or you still need to router out yours. I’m wondering anyone has don’t this to there Powermatic table and can offer advice. Did a lot of searching and couldn’t find anything here or the net.

Would I be better off buying a Pre made table, building my own and saving the powermatic factory table, or lastly cutting into the Powermatic table. I’m leaning towards using the factory table cutting a hole and adding rails and aftermarket fence.

Looking for any advice.

PS the shaper will be up for sale shortly. I’m in South Jersey.
