Hi. New here, will try to get more involved later. For the moment I am in need of something and need it asap. I hope this is the right way to post, still learning my way around; but like I said this is urgent,
I need some pen blanks, or wood suitable for pen blanks from Fig Tree Wood from Israel. This is a specific request from my nephew who is a preacher and it has to do with the biblical references in the Bible.I have plenty of Olivewood, but he specifically wants Fig from Israel for his project. I have had no luck so far after several days of searching and communications with suppliers in Israel.
Indications are that it is a very plain wood, probably soft and somewhat unstable. Not sure if green wood could be accelerated dried or not.
Do any of you guys have any experience with it or know of a source?
Thanks for any help.
Steven

Guess remember your question asked on IAP message board. Doubt anyone can help.

Not sure every fig tree or vine is suitable for making pen blanks. Some varieties might be better than others. Don’t know of a source of fig wood here or in Israel unless know a farmer or gardener with fig trees. That wood not commercially harvested. So expalin the difficulty of finding fig wood for pen blanks to your nephew.
