I’ve got a No 2 Compass saw with a stubby blade. Oh, probably around 5 inches. Obviously broken off by a previous owner who was a bit over zealous.
I intend to keep this saw and use it. The tote is in great condition.
What would you recommend that I replace the blade with? I’ve seen adds for new ones, but I’m kinda hesitant about new steel. Just like new math.

Cheers,
Bill

I see keyhole saws on the shelf a lot in the thrift stores and local Restores. If it was me, I would just keep an eye out for a used saw with a usable blade. I have also see them for sale on online marketplaces like Etsy and Ebay.

I have been on the hunt for some replacement blades for my Millers Falls 525 large Keyhole saw. I couldn’t sharpen the blade that was in it. They will come along some time. : )

Hey Bill,
I just went thru a drawer in my tool box and found a blade that I believe will work in a pinch. It is fairly straight but will need to have the teeth touched up and set again. If you have a job waiting on a blade for your saw, I can send it in mail. Do you have saw files, a saw set or wrest? If so you could probably have this thing cutting great in a few minutes. Let me know.
Mike

I appreciate the offer Mike. I was digging though the pile of saws this eve and found another compass saw with a strait blade. Although I have a gut feeling its carbide or something of the like. I’m going to do a spark test tomorrow and get a gist of what it is.
I don’t have a job waiting. I’m currently in the process of getting my tools together and re-furbed. I do have saw files, sets, and a newly acquired saw vise. (Now just want to get that Veritas saw file holder.)
Cheers
