I’ve been eyeing the Makita cordless router for awhile and today found it in stock at Home Depot for $129 (tool only). With my veteran’s discount it was $116. It only comes with the fixed base but searching Amazon, I found another kit for $208 with a $25 discount from Makita. $183 total. I had $30 in Amazon CC points. The kit includes the corded version of the same router and the fixed base, plunge base, tilt base, offset base, trimmer guide, dust nozzle, and tool bag. I already have several Makita batteries.

I figure I can sell the new, unused corded router with fixed base and tool bag for enough to make it a pretty good deal good deal.

Has anyone tried one yet?

I have plans on buying one but haven’t got around to it yet, still working on other (non-woodworking) projects.

I got one as part of a product reviewing program.
I’ve never felt a need for a cordless router but
I’m sure I’ll find some uses for it. It includes
an 8mm collet, which is nice, and a template
guide for each of the two bases I received.

The edge guide only fits the fixed base. The
plunge base is shown with an adapter in the
manual which allows the edge guide to be used
with it, but the accessory is not available for sale,
nor as far as I can tell is any edge guide for the
plunge base. There are no part numbers for
accessories in the manual.

The base rod spacing appears to be 85mm. It
appears DeWalt also uses this spacing on some
routers so DeWalt edge guides may fit.

Have your say...
