Topic tags/keywords: question plane sharpening

Does anyone have any tips on the correct setup on the iron. I have tried 3 times and failed.

You have a toothing plane but it doesn’t appear you have the correct iron. The iron should have quite a number of teeth in the face and the number of teeth varied. Toothing plane irons are cut in the same manner as files, with a chisel so they have a 60ยบ vee shaped cut at an angle.

You may be able to get it to work as a scraper but they’re bevel-down planes where the bevel of the iron is against the bed of the plane.
