Topic tags/keywords: delta jointer

There is a jointer for sale in my area for $625 Canadian ($500 USD). It is a Delta 37-866X. It is in an unopened box and comes with a mobile base. It works for my budget. Any thoughts on this particular model and the deal in general? Thanks in advance.

Looks like a standard 6” jointer. Nothing special about it, and (IMO) not worth $625. 6” jointers are widely available on the used market, since most people buy them and then realize they should have bought an 8”.

Unless space is an issue go bigger if possible! The price well I wouldn’t go over $500?

You could get a new grizzly for that. New in the box is not new. also I remember that Delta parts were getting hard to get. IDK if that was ever resolved.

I could get a benchtop for less than 500 but a stand up is a bunch more. Much rather get a standup machine with a mobile base. Shipping to Canada, taxes, and brokerage fees add up pretty quick

I’d recommend saving your money and waiting until you can afford an 8” jointer. Keep an eye on the local used market and you’ll likely find something (assuming you don’t live in the middle of nowhere). 6” jointers are pretty common on Craigslist in my area.

well thanks for talking me out of the 6” jointer. Today a used DJ-20 popped up for $1050 Canadian. He is delivering it today. I am so stoked! Yippee!
