A buddy found this piece of wood in his shop and can’t identify it. Any ideas??

My friend thought it could be teak…but he doesn’t recall using any teak. Hence the confusion.

It’s hard to tell with the yellow paint, but most pencils are made from basswood or cedar.

Apitong is very heavy and ridiculously hard. So it’s not that.

Could be one of the numerous woods that are often called or sold as mahogany?

Also looks a lot like teak to me though teak is another name used to sell wood that is not really teak.

Could also be sapelle I suppose.
