brand new in the box. I have never used a jointer before, this one seems to get good reviews. I dont know if 350 is too much or should I hold out for a better deal? Jointers just seem too few and far between here in Houston. http://houston.craigslist.org/tls/2216148783.html

They go on sale, periodically, at many of the Home Depot stores.

If you search this forum, you’ll find lots of good stories about them, from owners (like me), and specifics about who paid what, when, and where.

Just search by either Ridgid Jointer or the model number, JP0610

I am almost 100% sure there aren’t any left in the houston area home depot’s. They were clearanced a few months ago at the 3 home depots in my area for $103, so they were gone fast. I asked a worker to check other stores for me and he said that didn’t show any in a 100 mile radius.

I have looked at those grizzlys and If I cant find something local I think thats what I will get eventually. I am on a pretty tight budget, so I am always looking for a deal.

I picked one up used on CL and paid $175, but it needed new knives right off the bat. I don’t know anything about jointers, but it seems to work fairly well so far!

$350 is on the high side for that jointer from a private seller. It’d be a better deal if buying from a store with full warranty and return privileges. It’s very possible they picked it up on clearance…. I wouldn’t offer more than $250.

$429 new with free shipping

$350 sounds a bit high to me. I don’t own the Rigid but it seems to be quite popular here.

I bought the same one here in DFW last year as HD was clearancing them…for $214. I looked at about 10 different HDs in the metroplex to find mine…and I find it hard to believe there are any still around…anywhere.

It’s a fine tool and at $214, it’s a steal. $375 would represent a good sale price on retail if it was a current product.

So, in this case, it’s hard to say. It’s worth the money, but I wouldn’t say it’s a good deal.

I think its too high and I sent an email to the person to see if they would take a lower price. Now its a waiting game.

Michael, I am in New Jersey this week and HD has marked it down to 215.00 here. I will try to do a remote sku lookup in Texas tomorrow. Josh may be able to do so also in College Station just give him a call.

Yes, I have seen those in the local CL myself as well. Won’t even consider a penny over $250.00… You aren’t going to get the warranty with it, why pay full price, or even sale price for it?

It’s a catch 22. I’d say that it’s probably worth about $200-250 based on what they’ve recently sold for in my area, BUT since the supply has gone away, the price is going back up on them. It’s a fine machine for a home shop, the Grizzly is comparable to it. I’d see if you can find any craigslist ads from other areas with a lower price or an ad from a Home Depot that still has them. If you can find that, you can show it to the seller and use the price point as a negotiating tool.
