Topic tags/keywords: tablesaw craigslist

I’ve been using an older model skil jobsite tablesaw for years now, when I needed more rip capacity I made a homemade fence for it which worked fine. Now the motor is starting to go bad so I’ve been checking Craigslist daily for tablesaws and came across this ad.
https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/tls/d/jet-10-contractor-table-saw/6367641059.html

The guy says there’s a tennonig jig and mobile base include. It’s a little far off and I’ve seen mixed reviews about and was wondering if any one has experience and knows if it’s a good deal before I drive to look at it.

I cannot tell what Kerf the blade is, but Systimatic makes a good blade.
They no longer sell them. http://blog.carbideprocessors.com/saw-blades/the-discontinuation-of-systimatic-saw-blades/ FWIW- I bought their blade over the Forrest at a woodworking show years ago as a best value for my limited budget. Have Sharpened once and used it on a C-Man 113. I plan on trying it on my Sawstop next. Dan

Please explain how it is ‘starting to go bad’.

That’s a decent basic contractor saw. Considering the condition, mobile base, blade guard, jig, and Systimatic blade, I think the price is fair. Never hurts to make an offer, but if I was in the market for a saw, I wouldn’t walk away from this one over the asking price.

The motor is making a ticking noise until the blade stops and it’s just not as powerful as it used to be it struggled to cut through even 3/4 stuff.

When was the last time you replaced the bearings? How about the brushes? Probably a $10 fix. A contractor saw would be a step up, but if you fix the one you have now, that would give you time to look for a better deal on a better saw. Just saying.

Cheers,
Brad

I only paid twenty dollars for it a a yard sale and have only had to buy a blade and switch and used the heck out of it for about four years so I can’t complain. I’ve been wanting to upgrade for a while and figured this would be a great time.
